
- Rafael Nadal appears to have changed his strings to promote increase spin. You have to wonder why he needs any more spin when he already gets between 1800-4900 revolutions per minute off his forehand. Federer only gets about 2700 revolutions per minute. When you’ve had issues with injury and confidence why would you change something so important when you have a title to defend? Maybe that explains the few extra stray shots.
- Feliciano Lopez surprised everyone by making it through to the third round where he will surely be dealt with by Andy Roddick. Lopez had a shocking season last year, rarely making it through the first round of tournaments. Sadly however, fellow Spaniard Robredo is out of the tournament.
- The depth of Australian women’s tennis took another beating today with Jarmila Groth and Alicia Molik falling and following the crumbling Jelena Dokic out the door.
