Born in the Canary Islands in Spain Suarez Navarro turned pro in 2003 plays right handed and has one of the most technically sound single handed backhands on the tour. She is from an athletic family with her father playing handball and her mother being a former gymnast.

Suarez Navarro has played in 8 Grand Slams with 2 quarterfinal appearances, once in 2008 at Roland Garros and once in 2009 at the Australian Open after defeating Venus Williams in the fourth round.

She is currently a member of the Pro-Ab Team Tennis Academy in Barcelona.

    Carla Suarez Navarro is my very favorite player to watch, sure wish that I could one day afford a one on one lesson with her, maybe I’ll just have to become her ball boy at the US Open when she makes her comeback~!!
