Andy Roddick made light work of Tommy Robredo today, winning their 11th meeting, and making it 12 consecutive losses for Robredo against top ten players (excluding Hopman Cup). As per normal Roddick style he opened with 2 swift opening service games. Robredo on the other hand had to work hard to hold serve.
At 4-3 Robredo desperately tried to keep things on serve but misfired a forehand into the net to give Roddick the break and the chance to serve it out, which he duly did, to love.
The second set was fairly similar, with Robredo trying to stay with Robredo, strangely playing the same type of match that had failed against Roddick in their 10 previous meetings. At 5-5 an error and 2 double faults gave Roddick triple break point with Robredo continuing to struggle in the sun. Robredo then pushed a forehand long giving Roddick a 6-5 lead and positioning him to serve out the match, which he again did to love.
In 1 hr and 18 minutes Roddick walked away with a 6-3, 7-5 victory and a place in the semi finals.
