What Happened Today?

- Prince racquets made an announcement that Vera Zvonareva has signed on to use their product. “We are proud and excited to formally announce that WTA player, and current world No. 22, Vera Zvonareva, is an official member of the Prince athlete roster.”

- Fernando Verdasco talked about Rafa Nadal not being fully fit in Miami. “For sure in Miami he was not fit, he was on antibiotics for his wisdom tooth and he was not right the whole week.” But Rafa seemed happy with his performance in Monte Carlo where he destroyed De Bakker. “I think I played well. I played a very solid match, made no mistakes, with good movements, good directions, I like the atmosphere in general. Here you feel you’re at a club. It’s nice to be in big tournaments with big stadiums but here you’re in a club and that’s what makes the tournament so different.”

- Andy Murray said what we all thought, that he played like sh$%! “I was just rubbish, I played a rubbish match. I didn’t play well and that was it. I played really, really badly,” Interestingly he said he felt mentally fine. “Today, I felt fine mentally. If I do shout a lot and make a lot of noise when I’m losing, then everyone asks me: ‘Was that why you lost? Were you getting too frustrated with yourself?’ If I don’t say anything and I lose, it’s, like, I was flat. Today, I hardly hit a ball in the court. That’s what lost me the match.”

- A few days after Flavia Pennetta beat Carla Suarez Navarro 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in the Andalucia Open, Suarez Navarro has managed to avoid being one of the many upsets in Barcelona. Carla, home crowd favourite, beat Kristina Barrois 6-3, 7-5.
