Radek Stepanek, 31, has been off the tour for some months with a fatigue related illness and then a knee injury. Radek had intended to return to play at Wimbledon before injuring himself trialing a racket. He was also forced to miss the most recent Davis Cup tie because of the injury. Over the weekend he had a reason to smile again as he married Nicole Vaidisova, 21, in the Prague Castle chapel.
It was just a few months after Stepanek and Martina Hingis broke of their engagement that it was announced that Vaidisova, then 18, would marry Radek. Since then Nicole, a former world number 7, plummeted down the rankings before retiring early this season, lacking the drive to continue.
The pair originally applied for a wedding license late 2007.
