Vera Zvonareva, first time finalist has had a difficult day to swallow. First she was beaten convincingly in the Wimbledon Ladies Final by Serena Williams then she quickly crumbled in the doubles final she played with Elena Vesnina against Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova. They were beaten 7-6, 6-2.
The first set had been quite tight, but after the Russian team lost the tie break Vera was a mess having already suffered earlier that day. From there it was all down hill for the duo as Elena desperately tried to get Vera to pull herself together.
It’s not the first time Vera has crumbled on a tennis caught, her career being marked with temperamental play and emotional breakdowns, but today it was unfortunate that her breakdown was on such a big stage.
