>Djokovic And Verdasco Thinking Ahead

While Novak Djokovic may have qualified for the world tour finals which start today, his heart and mind are elsewhere – on the Davis Cup Finals to be played in his hometown Belgrade. The Serbians will take on the French for the chance to win the trophy.
Novak has recently talked about the emotional significance of the tie. “Honestly my biggest goal is to win the Davis Cup. I have had opportunities to be part of this event before and hopefully in the future I will be a part of it again, but the Davis Cup final at home, maybe it’s only one time. Who knows if we’re going to have this opportunity again? That’s why I’m very excited about it emotionally and very motivated. But I still need to try to do my best here and then think about Belgrade.”
Fernando Verdasco, who is also in London as an alternate if someone is injured or has to withdraw is also looking ahead beyond his next training stint in Las Vegas with Andre Agassi and Gil Reyes. “Although it sounds a bit strong, my challenge for myself at the start of next season is to win the Australian Open. Two years ago I was in the semis before falling to Rafa in five sets. It’s a special tournament for me.”
