Jelena Dokic has split with her coach Glenn Schaap just days ahead of the Australian Open. Schaap has returned to Europe but has previously worked with players such as Nadia Petrova, Dinara Safina and Anna Chakvetadze and has only worked with Dokic for about 6 months.
Dokic today took a smooth passageway into the second round today defeating Zuzana Ondraskova 6-3 6-2.
“We split a couple days ago, right before the Australian Open. Nothing special. No hard feelings, you know. There are certain people that suit you for your game and for your personality. I feel like, you know, he didn’t suit the type of tennis that I wanted to play… Maybe he’s good for somebody else, but I didn’t feel that click, basically. That’s it, you know, nothing else.”
“Glenn has refuelled my motivation. He is no-nonsense. I can already see big improvements on the court and I am getting more excited with each day.”
Dokic is working with Tennis Australia’s Louise Pleming during the tournament.
