What Happened Today?

- Feliciano Lopez has snapped a 5 match losing streak by beating Philipp Petzchner 6-4, 7-6 in Brisbane. The Spaniard used 11 aces and just one hour and forty minutes to secure the win. Unfortunately the Spaniard apparently has a virus and as a result wont play doubles with Fernando Verdasco according to his Twitter page.

- Ana Ivanovic and Novak Djokovic teamed up to give Serbia a 3-0 lead over Kazakhstan at the Hopman Cup in Perth. After a two week ‘off-season’ Djokovic said he struggled to adjust to the time changes and weather in Australia.

“I don’t want to make excuses, but I only got in on New Years Eve and it’s hard to get used to the time change and the conditions here. In the first set, I was too defensive, I was still trying to find the rhythm and he was stepping in and was definitely the better player for most of the first set. But then I found my pace and I was happy the way I finished off.”

- Andy Murray will make his 2011 season debut today at the Hopman Cup as the UK take on Italy. Laura Robson will have to play Francesca Schiavone.

- Lleyton Hewitt spent some time meeting young fans in Perth.
