Argentina Sweep Romania Off The Court With 3-0 Victory

After a dramatic first day of play, Argentinians Juan Ignacio Chela and Eduardo Schwank defeated Victor Hanescu and Horia Tecau 6-2, 7-6, 6-1 in the doubles rubber giving Argentina an unbeatable 3-0 lead. The new Davis Cup rule mean that the players will now only play one of the two dead rubber singles matches.

Of the four players Chela stood out with some incredible commanding play, the player clearly trying to push Argentina to victory after the incredible efforts of David Nalbandian. Chela has never played doubles for Argentina previously and hasn't been picked in the team for two years because of injuries. The 31 year old was certainly making up for lost time.

"First of all, I’m really happy for us, because we could give Argentina the victory, and I’m also happy to be part of the team. I felt very good on court. Eduardo is a very good player, who has a strong serve. And I think I played a very good tennis. In fact, it’s a bit strange that although I’m 31 years old it’s my first time playing doubles for Argentina.”
