The two biggest Andy’s in tennis – Roddick and Murray – will face off today in the semifinals at Queens. Murray was handed a walkover into the semis after Marin Cilic withdrew with an ankle injury. In withdrawing Cilic gave Murray a chance to rest his own ankle injury but the lanky Croatian has apparently also injured his knee when he twisted his ankle which puts him in doubt for any decent performance at Wimbledon. Interestingly when Murray has played he’s been throwing himself around the court.
In another quarterfinal, Andy Roddick seemed in as much of a hurry as tournament organisers to get his match over after a 90 minute rain
delay. Roddick pummeled Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the 6-2, 6-2 rain interrupted match.
It’s the first show of decent form from Roddick in some time in what is surely going to be one of his last pushes towards a Wimbledon title before retirement.
“It’s going to be tough. I don’t think there’s going to be a lot of surprises. We’re probably in the two hands’ worth of guys that really feel comfortable on this surface.” – Andy Roddick
