Well another player has rolled over and played dead, freeing the path for Novak Djokovic to another title. OK I’m being a bit unfair to Tomas Berdych who pulled out of his doubles match after he beat Federer yesterday with a shoulder problem but seriously I’m getting absolutely sick of seeing Novak in finals. Sure Andy Murray might beat him but a lot of other people had chances and didn’t.
What Novak has done, and continues to do, is downright incredible but I think it’s starting to make tennis less interesting because it’s almost not even worth watching now… the outcome is inevitable, repetitious and… well if I’m honest, I’m bored.
To all the Novak fans out there…. He’s brilliant, he’s fantastic, he’s become a tennis God but I like a little variety in my tennis regardless of who’s in form.
Berdych retired after losing the first set 7-5 after seeing a trainer earlier in the set. Djokovic stated that while he’s also feeling the effects of playing a lot of matches that Berdych’s injury was more serious than his own niggles. “It’s a shame. Playing many matches this summer is taking its toll. I’m not the fittest guy around, either. I’m feeling pretty much the same injury he has but his is more serious so unfortunately he had to finish.”
Novak will no doubt welcome the extra rest.
