Roddick Progress Halted By Isner

Andy Roddick’s return to winning has been halted by John Isner who earned himself a finals spot at the Winston-Salem Open with the 7-6, 6-4 win over his compatriot.

While the first set could have gone either way, Isner was clearly more comfortable in the second set, with Roddick’s service percentages  lower that Isner.

Isner said later, “I was flat out just luckier than he was in the first set. After the first three games of the second set I was able to regroup. I was able to put some returns back in play, play aggressively and next thing you know we’re dead even again.”

Roddick has now dropped to number 21 in the world, dropping outside the top 20 for the first time in 10 years.
