Sam Stosur will find herself back inside the top ten after making her way into a second final this season. Stosur defeated Radwanska 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to book her place in a final against the returning Serena Williams who has already won her first title since returning to the women’s tour just before Wimbledon after an extensive period of injury and illness.
Stosur said she was happy to see an improvement in form after having some lack luster results earlier in the season. “I’m starting to have things flow again. I went through a bit of a dip in form at the start of the season, and I wasn’t able to feel like I do now. To come here and play this well, whatever happens tomorrow, I’m feeling good. I’m No.11 this week. I really wanted to get back in the Top 10, for sure.”
Understandably Serena is delighted with her comeback. “It was important for me to come in and take charge. I didn’t have anything to lose. It’s really cool – I came to Toronto just trying to do my best, next thing I know I’m in the final. I haven’t really played that much. I love the Toronto crowd. Maybe it’s something to do with them!”
