Robin Soderling’s battle with mono, which first started to rear its ugly head at Wimbledon last year, has taken another sad turn for the once promising Swede. Robin has now been forced to pull out of Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Olympics and one would have to wonder if that means his 2012 season, and possibly his career, is over.
While the former world number four denies making any decisions about the remaining 2012 season it is hard to see him coming back from such an ongoing form of mono.
Federer has also had issues with mono but managed to shake it off. The most marked case was that of Mario Ancic who ultimately retired when he found he just couldn’t get back in the the rhythm of playing because his fatigue was so extreme.
