Rightly so Ivo Karlovic has said he’s going to request a review of the enormous number of foot faults calls against him in his match against Andy Murray after suggesting the officials were biased towards their home grown ‘hero’.
Interestingly, as if to strengthen his position that he’s not prone to foot faulting, he didn’t commit one in his doubles match.
“Today, funny, but there was no foot faults today all match. I believe I will make an official complaint.
I don’t know if there is any way to look at it. If it shows that I didn’t do them I would like a public apology from the tournament because I think that I deserved to be in the fifth set yesterday.
I am not saying that I would have won but on a lot of those foot faults it was an ace. I will look into it because it is also strange that in the doubles I didn’t do one.
I don’t do them because of my technique. Also, after they called two or three I even stood back a little bit and they still did it.
People who were watching have said this is unbelievable. Of course, because they know me and I don’t do that.
It was always the same line judge. Which is weird because normally they change after one hour or I don’t know. But that woman was there almost the whole match. And then it was always her calling and I was like how come I only do it from here and not the other side? And then, next game, the other one called. So I was like why did I say anything?
I was looking at the tape and what is weird is that there was only one replay, only one, and I didn’t do. I was like an inch away from the line and after that they didn’t do again the slow-motion close-up at all. So that was a little bit weird for me.”
