Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki’s woeful results have continued on at Wimbledon. Wozniacki went down 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 to Tamira Paszek in a match that lasted almost three hours.
Wozniacki had two match points in the second set but the stubborn Paszek forced and third and took the match, Caroline later saying “It sucks when you lose, especially after holding match points, and it’s no fun being out already.”
After an early rain delay that gave Caroline a chance to fight back and take the first set the second saw Paszek refuse to back down as both players levels fluctuated. In the third Wozniacki briefly saw hope when she broke back at 4-5 before her Wimbledon dreams were once again crushed.
Caroline was forced to deny that her relationship with Rory McIlroy has effected her game during her post match press conference.
Caroline has previously spent well over a year as world number one but has yet to win a Grand Slam.
