Piping Hot: Who Are Some Of The Hottest ATP & WTA Players?

It’s no secret that there is an “eye candy” component to tennis as a sport. By that we mean that there are plenty of players that even non-fans of the actual game will tune in to check out.

Often the players at the very top of the game are making huge sums of money but those lower down, even in the top thirty, can struggle to make ends meet by the time they’ve paid coaches and trainers as well as covering travel and accommodation costs. There are a huge number of lower ranked players who make most of their money through sponsorship/appearance deals of various kinds.

Today we present to you a voted top five lists for hottest tennis players past and present in no particular order.

Dominika Cibulkova – Formerly ranked #3 in the world at the junior level, Cibulkova has yet to find a lot of consistent success at the pro level. The Slovakian prefers hard surfaces and is in the current top 20 in the world

Ana Ivanovic – Over the last few years Ivanovic has been working on her game and has gotten into great shape in an attempt to rehabilitate her game and re-find the form that made her a French Open champion.

Ana is well known as a fashion icon and model – even her love life receives plenty of media coverage.

Maria Sharapova- When she came on the pro scene, many wanted to compare her to Anna Kournikova with her model looks and golden hair. The difference between the two players was quickly evident with Maria claiming the Wimbledon crown at 17 years of age.

Maria Sharapova  has won over $12 Million in prize money
and completed a career Grand Slam in 2012 by winning the French Open.
Vera Zvonareva – Vera has been playing tennis since she was six and is known for her conditioning and emotional vulnerability on the court (despite some recent injury  issues). Vera is also a Bronze Medalist from the 2008 Olympic Games.

In 2010 Vera reached a career high ranking of number two in the world after making the finals in two Grand Slams (Wimbledon and US Open).

In 2011 Vera posed nude for ESPN.  Vera is currently ranked at number 95 in the world after some ongoing illness issues.

Mandy Minella – Minella played her first Wimbledon this year and is currently 77th in the World. With the rise of players like Mandy German tennis never looked so good.

For the ladies out there, we present you your choices for top five hottest male players.

Rafael Nadal – The current #4 ranked player in the world is currently on the sidelines with a knee injury and a tricky tummy bug. With 11 grand slam titles, he is the physical beast of a player who is admired world wide for his mental toughness and willingness to fight to the bitter end for every tournament and every point.

With millions of fans all around the world the gentle giant Rafa has gained extra media attention for his good looks – scoring an Armani deal in recent years (much to many of his fans delight).

Marat Safin – Safin is this generation’s bad boy in tennis. Although he had wild mood swings on the court, he can now be found working his way through the maze of Russian politics.

Marat was always known for having gorgeous (but not always classy) women sitting in his players box and was well known for enjoying the night life on offer to wealthy, good looking, charismatic athletes and celebrities like himself.
Feliciano Lopez – Tennis’ “pretty boy” is certainly among the most well groomed men on the circuit – which can at times appear to be a hindrance to his game. It is a good thing he is good to look as he’s not always the most approachable player.

Feli, nick named by Judy Murray as Deliciano, is a well known playboy and has worked extensively as a model.
Jan Michael Gambill -  The former top 20 ranked player has appeared on reality TV and has the body for it with abs of steel to catch your attention.

Jo Wilfried Tsonga – Tsonga blasted onto the scene in 2008 by making the finals of the Australian Open. Women appreciate the chiseled body and strong legs as well as his playful personality and beautiful smile.

Tsonga has remained a favourite on the tour despite his at times inconsistent results. It’s fair to say the Frenchman is always entertaining.

Some runners up include: Anna Kournikova, Goran Ivanisevic, Fernando Verdasco and Daniela Hantuchova
