When Nike’s Clash of the Champions was
announced, scheduled for March 8, it was made clear that no player could be guaranteed in the event of injury. At the time Serena Williams was announced as a participant she was still scooting around in a CAM boot and unable to train. It seemed unlikely that the former world number one would participate in the event. Read more

Maria Sharapova’s huge engagement ring at a media event at Melbourne Park where she talked about her new Nike gear (see video). She also talked about her shoulder and said it was “feeling good thank you … It certainly took me a lot longer to get back, to get that shoulder back to where I want it to be.”
With all the physical issues Sharapova has battled over the last three seasons she continues to travel with a physio “every single week on the tour” to try and prevent any further injury.
On her engagement the star said; “It’s an exciting part of our lives obviously. I’m 23 years old, we both have big careers in our lives that we’ve got to take care of and that we love so much. We’re certainly going to take our time for the big day, but we’re having a lot of fun.”

It has been announced today that Roger Federer has signed ANOTHER multi-year, multi-million dollar deal (as if he needed more), this time with Mercedez Benz. I don’t know if it’s just me but it feels like Rog has signed loads of deals this year (Lindt, Credit Suisse, Jura coffee machines – and that’s just what I remember)
Roger has also had long term deals with Nike, Wilson, Gillette and Rolex. Net Jets (private jets) and Nationale Suisse (insurance) also pay the Swiss star millions of dollars every year. To say that Roger takes advantage of his fame and multi-lingual abilities is an understatement.
What I can’t understand is what coffee machines and chocolate (besides being Swiss brands) have in common with the world number 1. It’s fair to say that the Federer clan will never want for anything, and that when Rog said his family could afford to transport his twins comfortably around the world, he really wasn’t kidding.
“I am delighted that we are adding Roger Federer to the Mercedes-Benz family of sports and celebrity ambassadors on a global level. When it comes to tennis, he is without doubt one of the greatest of all time and he truly has become a global icon. We are looking forward to working with Roger on a number of initiatives. Much like our own brand, Roger has an impressive and unrivalled history but the best is still yet to come” – Mercedes Benz
