The latest twist in the Tomic saga is that Bernard has asked an umpire – Cedric Mourier – in Miami to eject his father John. He also asked the umpire to give his dad a coaching violation and then thanked him when the umpire complied.
This unusual action from Bernard came after a series of negative reactions John had as he watched Bernie losing to David Ferrer. Read more

The last of the great fiery giants, Fernando Gonzalez, has retired from professional tennis, widening the gap left by Marat Safin. The owner of one of the most powerful forehands in the game played his final match today in Miami losing to Nicolas Mahut, the Frenchman winning 7-5, 4-6, 7-6.
It can’t have been an easy match for Mahut knowing you’re ending someones career but true to form Fernando went down in style after defending three match points. Unfortunately the match ended on his double fault after years plagued with injury but Fernando seemed to lost in the moment as the crowd went wild to really care how the last point went down. I’m sure some of Rafa’s fans are going to rip me apart for the comments I’m about to make but I can’t hold back. When I saw these photos yesterday I was laughing out loud. They’re awkward and lacking in any chemistry and real feel between two very beautiful people. I’m a little surprised a professional model like Bar couldn’t create some heat between her and Rafa even if he can be horribly awkward.
The black silky boxers and the Playboy-esque shooting is just laughable. Why Nadal participated in some of the shots is beyond me. Read more

Robin Soderling has taken to Facebook to update fans on his health. The Swede has been struggling to recover from mono which first started showing itself during Wimbledon last year.
Finally Robin says the sore throats are gone (it has been a long time) but sadly his fatigue continues.

Giant John Isner has given America a handy 2-0 lead after beating former world number one Roger Federer 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 in what he called “the biggest win of my life.”
Under the guidance of Jim Courier, Isner was able to play some of his best tennis against the Swiss maestro without the pressure of having to play catch up after Mardy Fish scrambled to get the first rubber of the Davis Cup meet. Read more

The sliding, explosive gymnastic game of Gael Monfils is (as it often does) slowly destroying his body. Monfils say he’s now in doubt for the Davis Cup after struggling with swelling and pain in his knees which forced him to consider withdrawing from the Montpellier final on Sunday which he lost to Tomas Berdych.

Bernard Tomic has hit Seven nightclub in Melbourne over the weekend, spending time in the DJ booth requesting LMFAO’s Sexy And I Know It. At some point the crowd apparently even started chanting his name… You may now vomit in disgust.

Bernard Tomic has been forced to withdraw from the SAP Open in San Jose to attend a court hearing on February 14 over three tickets he’s received from police after being accused of breaking the terms of his special license.
Initially the tournament organisers had said that Bernie had withdrawn with a leg injury despite the fact he’s playing Davis Cup next weekend. His reason for withdrawal was then changed to ‘personal reasons’. Read more
